Unemployment Compensation in
Florida
The
Unemployment Compensation Program is a free-of-charge program which
provides temporary wage replacement benefits to qualified workers.
The program is funded by employers who pay federal and state
unemployment compensation taxes. To be eligible for benefits you
must be unemployed through no fault of your own and you must make a
thorough and continued effort to become re-employed. There are many
reasons a person might be denied benefits, some of which
include:
-quitting a job for personal reasons ( note that benefit payments
are only paid if you quit for good cause attributable to your
employer, or for a personal illness or disability that made it
necessary for you to resign)
-being fired for misconduct connected with work
-refusing an offer of suitable employment
-not being available for work
